Independent

Projects:

• Make a poster of your favorite character. Include everything you have learned about him/her. What are his/her likes and dislikes? What are his/her character traits? What are the big feelings she/he has?

Games & Activities:

• Independent Reading: Read as many books as you can with the same characters in order to get to know the characters really well.
• Independent Reading: Read a book from your book baggie. Stop and jot how your character is feeling in each part of the story. What makes you think he/she is feeling that way? What is the text evidence?

Online Games (Websites & Apps):

• Shadow Puppet: Take pictures of all the pages in your book. Record yourself reading the story. Be sure to match your voice to the character and read as fluently as possible. Go back and listen to your read aloud. See what you can improve on. Record it again! Do this for a few books! Share your videos with a friend.
• Sock Puppets: Create a story. Use different voices for each character in your story.
• Puppet Pals: Create a story. Use different voices for each character in your story. 

Family

Projects:

• Put on a performance of one of your books for your family. Have family members take on a role as a character in your story. Use props and costumes to really bring your performance to life!

Games & Activities:

• Read a book from your book baggie with a family member. Stop and grow an idea about what type of person your character is (character trait). Why do you think your character is this type of person? What is the text evidence?
• Be the family storyteller! Plan a read aloud for a brother, sister, or an adult family member. Make sure that when you read to your family member that you use a smooth, fluent voice and match your voice to the character who is talking.
• Go to the library and check out a few books with the same characters. Keep track of all the information you learn about these characters.
• Go to a play and pay close attention to how the actors and actresses pretend to be the character. What things do you notice about what  they do with their body, their
