Projects:

  • Write a review about your favorite toy or stuffed animal! Include your opinion, 3 reasons, details/examples, comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Write a review about your favorite place to get food- a restaurant, a pizza shop, a dessert place, or fast food restaurant. Include your opinion, 3 reasons, details/examples, comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Write a review about your favorite breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, fruit, vegetable, or ice cream flavor! Include your opinion, 3 reasons, details/examples, comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Write a review about your favorite animal or pet. Include your opinion, 3 reasons, details/examples, comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Write a review about your favorite place to go on the weekend- the movie theater, Chelsea Piers, the Zoo, a park, a museum, etc. Include your opinion, 3 reasons, details/examples, comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Write a book review about one of the books you read in your book baggie- it could be your favorite book or your least favorite book, but give 3 reasons to support your opinion and write whether or not you recommend this book to a friend. Make sure to explain why or why not!
  • Choose a book from the mentor text list in the resources section for this unit. Find it in the library and read it! Record what the character’s opinion is about a topic and record any reasons they give that support their opinion.

  • Commercial Review: Watch a commercial on T.V. or find one for your favorite toy on Youtube. Tell someone your opinion about the item in the commercial. Give reasons to support your opinion!

Students: Write a review of your favorite place to go for an after school snack. Include at least two reasons, comparisons, and persuasive language.

Family Member: Write a review of your favorite place to go for an after school snack.

Then have another friend or family member read the reviews and decide which was the most convincing! Go visit!
