  • Take a walk around your neighborhood.   Go on a shape hunt for 2D shapes.  Illustrate and/write down what you find.

  • Make play-doh shapes then tell your family member:  My shape is a _____.  It has _____ sides.  It has _____ vertices.
  • Play the I Spy Shape game.
  • Come up with a song about 2D shapes and their attributes.
  • Come up with a song about 3D shapes and their attributes.
  • Hide an object.  Give your adult clues to find the objects using position words.

Projects:

  • Take a neighborhood “shape walk” and snap photos of the shapes you see.  
  • Make a Window Gallery by taping pictures to the window and draw frames around them with dry erase markers to label shapes.

Extension

Games & Activities:

  • Make 3D shapes with toothpicks/stick pretzels and marshmallows/playdoh.
  • Play “Guess My Shape” with an adult.  For example,  “ Guess my shape.  I am a 2D shape.  I have 4 corners and 4 equal sides.”
